Tweed Valley Flood Study Review – Meeting Invitation – Condong Bowls Club 6.30 pm 28/02/2024
February 28 @ 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm
To All Fingal Head Residents you are invited to the Tweed Valley Flood Study Review – Meeting Invitation – Condong Bowls Club 6.30 pm 28/02/2024
This is an email invitation to a public meeting to be held next Wednesday for residents from Tumbulgum, Chinderah, Tweed, Kingscliff and Fingal regarding Tweed River flooding and a preliminary report into the study.
This meeting has been arranged due to the multiple unexpected flood events that have occurred in the Tweed, and the urgent need to address the findings of the latest flood study conducted by the Tweed Shire Council. It is important to note that the Tweed community has faced five significant or moderate flood incidents over the past six years. These include two events in 2022, one in 2017, one in 2021, and the New Year’s Day flood this year in 2024. We believe that there are significant concerns within the community regarding the adequacy of the Flood Study conducted by the Tweed Shire Council and the methodology employed in its development.
You may recall a similar meeting last year attended by over 200 community residents including a range of politicians etc which called for the CSIRO floodplain study for the ‘Richmond’ to be adopted in the Tweed.
Please consider coming along to this Condong Bowls meeting, which of course follows on from the Flood Study community information session, to be held at the Kingscliff Beach Bowls Club next Tuesday 27 February at 4pm to 6pm.
It would be great to see Fingal Head well represented so please share this email with your neighbours.
